Following three years in storage and a planned reintroduction into service, the fleet of Class 379 required servicing and the restoration of the existing external CCTV system.

Not only did our team project manage and deliver the overhaul, they also improved on image quality and consistency in view across stations.

The project scope expanded following the success of the first five visits to include the next 20 trains of the fleet which took place between January to April 2026.

Petards’ engineers also delivered a programme of on-site product training sessions for rail personnel, underpinning our long-term commitment to our customer.

On conclusion of the 25 health checks Petards conducted a data analysis exercise on the reports generated and data collated. This was to identify potential issues and solutions to the fleet as a whole and set forward recommendations for the fleet.

They included:

  • The upgrading of the DCO cameras to utilise a new camera module and the return of the existing DCO cameras to use the components within to support obsolete items on the fleet.
  • The supply of new PGC cameras utilising a new camera module to replace damaged or broken existing equipment.
  • The supply of 10 off new pantograph and track debris illuminators.
